Who owns an "outlaw" vehicle ?

Terms; any motorized transportation vehicle that is not licensed, registered, insured or has state evidence of existence.

Me ?

A motorbike and a big quad runner.

How important will these "off-the-books" vehicles be when SHTF ?

Quad-runners are classified as "ATVs" or all-terrain VEHICLE. As such it can be registered, licensed and tagged.

Best is to remove one's private automobile off the state's register, and stop engaging in commerce.

Couple ATV's here. The state may be aware they exist, but they sure as hell don't know that I've got them.

Does a vehicle (4WD truck in my case) ever go 'off the books'??

Mine hasn't been plated or insured for almost 7 yrs.

Re: Who owns an "outlaw" vehicle ?

I'm in the market for a 14' daysailer...one of the things that makes the size attractive is a 14 footer doesn't have to be titled or registered in my state, unless you put a motor on it. The Game Warden watches our lake like a hawk...a sailor I know put a trolling motor on his 14' sailboat to make it easier to maneuver over to the dock to tie it off after launching, and the Warden was going to write him a ticket...he put the motor back in his vehicle.

I keep everything that I'm forced to tag, current... including inspections and insurance...I'm not putting a target on my back. If you want to minimize your contact with the legal system, you follow the rules they can pin on you. If you want lots of attention from people with badges and guns, break their rules that they can spot at a glance...have at it.

If one has perfected a security interest in one's own private property, then it cannot be outlaw. The outlaws are the ones wanting to convert your private property to public use without just compensation.

And in a real SHTF scenario, the courts won't be operating so what difference does it make anyway?

Also, in a real SHTF circumstance, who's going to be paying registration and insurance?

Real men stand.

Other than echoing bravado, did you notice I typed the word "outlaw" with quotation marks ... ?

Off-the-books means off government books.

But of course you can record your claim at the courthouse if you want, I just notarize mine.
